ABOUT THIS EPISODE:

On this episode, we are bringing a newly monthly feature to the podcast entitled Vivisections where I dissect a hot topic in the horror community each month with my special guest, Morbidly Beautiful editor in chief Stephanie Malone. For each topic, we’ll have a lively point-counter point discussion, with each of us representing one side of a controversial topic.

For our inaugural episode, we discuss the pros and cons of horror film remakes. Are they a necessary evil? Is it possible to bring something new and innovative to a beloved property or franchise by way of remake/reboot/reimagining? Or is it just lazy filmmaking driven by the greed of major studios and producers? We discuss the best and worst horror remakes, how poorly received remakes have impacted major franchises, and what we can expect for the future of these films.

In a year when two of the most highly anticipated horror films, Suspiria and Halloween, are remakes/reboots of beloved films, this discussion felt timely and necessary. Our discussions at time will become quite passionate, and we want to hear from you! What side are you on? What would you like to see us debate next?

In our Digital Dismemberment Spotlight this evening, we will be covering Scream Factory’s Blu-Ray Release of Dolls.

We will also be featuring 3 songs from English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth!

Tune in to Morbidly Beautiful every Tuesday at 8 pm EST for new episodes of The Calling Hours Podcast. You can also listen to the syndicated rebroadcast on MileHiRadio every Friday night at 10 pm EST/7 pm PST. The Calling Hours is also available on most major podcast platforms, including iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Tune In Radio, and on Pippa.
