Morbidly Beautiful

Growing up I had what could be considered by some a slightly morbid childhood. Growing up I spent a good deal of time in cemeteries, primarily in the one my dad worked (and still works) at as a grave digger and grounds keeper. Growing up my dad had a small library of books hidden at the bottom of one of the downstairs book cases that stood within the confines of my playroom dedicated to death, vampires, werewolves and ghosts, which I devoured like the little graveyard ghoul I was.

Growing up I would plan for Halloween months in advance and start counting down beginning on November first. During the month of October, my mom would read me books she grew up with filled with tales to chill your bones. Growing up I would spend my summers at our cottage foraging for bones and the fossilized remains of long dead creatures, which I would then promptly display in my own cabinet of curiosities. Growing up I become obsessed with Scooby Doo and their monster chasing misadventures, and growing up I would sneak downstairs and watch horror movies with my dad when my mom was asleep.

It was all this and more that led me to where I am today, writing my first article for Morbidly Beautiful, a website tailor made for me and my passions. In my forthcoming articles, I plan to cover numerous topics pertaining to all that is morbidly beautiful including (but not limited to):  Children’s/juvenile/beginners horror in literature; the macabre and the supernatural in history; folklore (from around the world); indie horror (in all forms of media); silent and classic horror films; foreign horror (in all forms of media); and lastly, horror and all it pertains as a subject of academic study, discussion and dissertation.

I’m truly excited to be a part of Morbidly Beautiful and I’m looking forward to writing articles that I hope you dear readers will enjoy!

Stay tuned. Stay scared.
