‘IT’ debuts to cinemas in the Fall of next year, and we have our very first look at Pennywise lurking around his stomping grounds — a.k.a the sewers of Derry, Maine, right below! In the pic, which was leaked by Entertainment Weekly, we’re treated to a pretty damn iconic pose achieved by the talents of Bill Skarsgard.

IT (2017), BILL SKARSGÅRD as Pennywise

The Stephen King inspired retelling written by Gary Dauberman and Chase Palmer is set to be out in theaters September 8th, 2017. It’ will follow the story of seven children joining forces in a club they dub “the Losers Club” in the small town of Derry, Maine. The children, while also dealing with their average issues including bullies and what not, also are forced to come to face a monster that takes the shape of a clown called Pennywise.

Speaking on the flick at a CW TSA presentation, Collider reported in the past that one of the producers on the project, Dan Lin, thinks 2017’s rehashing of the clown pic will in fact take a page from Netflix’s “Stranger Things” in the sense of both of the projects pay homage to the 1980s. So that’s all well and good. But what if “Stranger Things” was already like IT and IT is going to be like “Stranger Things”? Kind of a mind-boggler, but hear me out. During my research on this flick, I found the guys behind the hit Netflix series [Stranger Things], the Duffer brothers, revealed THEY WANTED TO HELM THIS VERY REMAKE [!] at one time but were turned down due to them being seen as ill-experienced. CHECK IT OUT.

Directing the pic is Andy Muschietti (Mama). The cast includes Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor alongside Owen Teague and Javier Botet starring opposite Skarsgard. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg, and Barbara Muschietti are all credited as producers on the film.

The remake will [like the original] be cut into two parts. Part one will feature the storyline of the grown kids of Derry having to return to fight the demonic Pennywise. Part two will flashback to the cast as children when they first had to fight the demon.
