Nightshade’s Cellar is an online shop and Etsy seller, offering the best horror products — handmade with love — for creepy girls who want to be pampered while indulging in their love of the genre. In addition to a wickedly wonderful selection of handmade bath bombs and jewelry, the shop offers monthly themed subscription boxes in a variety of sizes and styles. Each box is packed with a killer assortment of horror inspired bath and beauty products, accessories and other cool merch — featuring the work of some of the best female-owned horror shops in the business. The talented and passionate Horror-loving woman behind Nightshade’s Cellar pours her heart and soul into this business, and she truly cares about her customers. She even offers layaway for monthly subscription boxes, making sure every ghoul who wants to treat herself is able to.
1. What was the inspiration for starting your own business and how did you get started?
My inspiration was life long. Sally from Practical Magic had her own botanical shop, and since I was a little girl I wanted it all. The family, the love, the business — and now it has all happened. It is a dream come true.
2. When and how did you fall in love with horror?
When? Birth. How? Naturally. As a child, I loved all things spooky and horror. It is in my blood.
3. Where does inspiration for your products come from? What is your creative process like?
From everything around me. I could be inspired by a movie, quote, something I see anywhere. My husband helps with ideas sometime, and even books or films my child are into inspires me. I usually visualize what I want to make, jot down some notes and then create. I don’t like sketches. I like to be in the workshop creating and let it just flow.
4. What’s the best part about running your own business, and what’s the hardest part?
The best part is I am chief, cook and bottle washer. I am my own boss, and I get to work from home. I am a mother, and I want to take care of my child first and foremost. I get to be with her while making creepy cute products. The hardest part is the math, lol.
5. Tell me why you think it’s important for people to support small business? Is it especially important for people to support female-owned business (if so, why)?
It is plain and simple. You are paying someone’s electric bills, putting food on their table, funding someone’s education and putting gas in someone’s car. Biggest point is you are supporting their dreams.
We all need to be there for one another and support one another. Small business is from one heart to another. Made by hard working men and woman who just want to create and not have a cubicle job. It is a blessing truly.
In regards to female small business I see no difference between men and woman when it comes to small business. We all need to make a means and create.

I like to talk to my customers. We discuss what products they would like to purchase, setting up layaway plans, and what they are interested in. I love when people ask for custom items and give me box ideas. I even sometimes talk to my customers like family. I believe in one heart to another.
Nightshade’s Cellar started as a sole bath bomb business. A year and a half later, we are now a full line of bath products and monthly themed boxes. Each month is a different theme and we offer TWO types. Shower and bath. We know not everyone has a bath tub or prefers a good shower. And we offer layaway every single month. This gives customers the freedom to reserve any box they so choose and pay for their box at their own speed and delight.
