Enjoy a Modern Twist on a Classic Tale About Death and the Choices We Make in Mary Rangel’s “The Red Death” PSA for Day 19 of the WiHM Massive Blood Drive.

It’s Women In Horror Month and that brings with it not only numerous celebrations of equality, but our MASSIVE Blood Drive!  Yes, you can’t think horror without thinking blood so we took it upon ourselves to make the world aware of the very dire need for donors.  Now in it’s 9th year, we decided to kick things up a notch by featuring 29 filmmaking teams from around the world and release a new Blood Services PSA for 30 days.” – Jen and Sylvia Soska

Edgar Allan Poe is and his Masque of The Red Death serve as inspiration for Mary Rangel’s contribution to the Massive Blood Drive PSAs.  The short is witchy, complete with cults and Countess Bathory — like villains, in a “wonderfully Sanguine Nightmare”.

Mary has written and directed several short Horror films and worked on both Hellevator seasons and John Carpenter’s Utopian Facade music video.

This talented filmmaker had this to say about her participation in the blood drive:

“There’s a certain magic that binds us Horror Fans together. Women In Horror Month is not only the time to appreciate the Scream Queens, Monster Makers, Haunters, and Filmmakers who contribute so much to our favorite Films, TV Shows, Haunts, and so much more within our favorite Genre. They do it with passion, Skill, and Love for Horror and for the Things that Go Bump in the Night. Also, during Women In Horror Month, is the time we band together to bring light in our dark world the way we know best… by creating art within the Horror genre. That is why my team and I am proud, excited and beyond grateful to be apart of The Twisted Twin’s Women in Horror Month Blood Drive PSAs.”

She went on to add, “I am beyond happy for you to watch our interpretation of the story and having The Red Death be apart of the message to encourage Horror fans and viewers to donate blood. To have the amazing opportunity to create this PSA with friends who share the love and passion for the genre made the experience even better. It would not exist without the hard work and talent of the amazing people of the cast and crew.”

Watch this modern take on a true horror classic, and enjoy the wicked and sanguine tale.
