This month, we say goodbye to Sunnydale with an exploration of the complicated relationship between Buffy and Spike and the 2+ decade legacy of BTVS.

Episode 26: Welcome to the Thunderdome – The End of Buffy ()

Sexual Abuse/Toxic Relationships

In this episode, we take one final trip to Sunnydale — for the podcast, not from our lives — by exploring seasons six and seven of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. We talk about our likes and dislikes (Giles leaves!) as well as our favourite episodes from both seasons.

We speak about the appeal of the ‘bad boy’ and why Spike is such a beloved character and adored romantic partner for the Slayer. However, we also look at the controversy surrounding Spike, in particular, his problematic, mutually abusive, and disturbing relationship with Buffy and the attempted rape scene in the episode “Seeing Red” from season six.

But, the episode ends on an emotional high note by exploring the 23 year legacy of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and how Buffy is, and forever will be, a feminist icon for women of all ages (and birthdates!).

So, the question is: are you ready to be strong?
