It’s a double feature of unique anthology horror and fascinating (not quite) true crime with 2024’s “Tenants” and “Strange Harvest”.

Tenants (2024)
It has been years since we last had an anthology on our humble little podcast. Tenants is an anthology film with an interesting premise. A woman wakes up in the parking garage of an apartment complex. As she looks for her sister, each encounter leads to horror.
All the tools are here for a fun anthology. Stories of mysterious rashes, lost love, and awful roommates are just a part of what Tenants has to offer. All are tropes of the subgenre, but the film makes odd decisions that negatively impact the viewing experience.
Meanwhile, true crime documentaries have covered every subject you can think of. So, what would be the point in making a fake one that is not a spoof?
Strange Harvest: Occult Murder in the Inland Empire attempts to answer this question by weaving a captivating story filled with creepy characters and gory kills. It does not succeed at everything, but it is still one of the best entries in the genre.

Strange Harvest (2024)
Tenants is available to rent on VOD. Strange Harvest is currently on the festival circuit and not yet widely available.
Every week AIPT Movie Editor Nathaniel Muir and his cinema partner in crime Blake Heath discuss indie and genre movies you have have never heard of, the ones you cannot hear enough about, and the ones you never want to hear about again.
Over the years, we have seen and discussed how horror has become more acceptable in the mainstream. This week we talk about two of the most striking examples of this. One is interesting while the other is just straight up weird. But both have us interested.
The idea of a nun who has lost her faith is not strange for an exorcism movie. Having the first introduction of said nun has her completely nude and coked up after a threesome is a little different. After showing off this incredibly buff nun, the awesomely titled Speed Demon takes off from there.
The film is an example of less being more. It does not reinvent the wheel and tells the simple story of a person trying to overcome their personal demons in order to defeat a literal one. And it works thanks to its setting and quick pace.
But it is in the closing moments that Speed Demon truly shines. In a whirlwind of revelations, the most powerful people in the world become entrenched in Sister Lu’s world. It also sets up the promise of what could be an exciting franchise.
