ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
In your head, in your heeeead, zombie, zombie. Yep, we kept it inside on the episode for you all but now it has to be let out. Surprisingly, it is The Cranberries in our head, not Rob Zombie who named his band after this movie. And we can see why he did as this movie is definitely a statement.
If you are a new listener to the PaNcast, be aware there are spoilers and expletives ahead! We break down the movie, go through a summary, offer analysis, trivia, arbitrary awards, reviews, ratings, fanfiction, and more!
“Mystic creates zombies and all is okay until he does it to a white woman and then things go awry.” – Carnage’s Five Second Summary.
Not subtly here. The word zombie is spoken from the get-go. These people know a zombie when they see them.
And we like a good Haitian zombie as opposed to the more “BRAINS” zombie you see now.
Now is a time for “good idea, bad idea”:
Good idea: Taking a vacation.
Possibly bad idea: Making a friend on vacation and taking him up on an invitation to his home.
Definitely a bad idea: Trusting a mystic who has a factory that runs on zombies to help you get the girl of your dreams. Plot twist, he turns her into a zombie.
Another master of horror, Bela Lugosi, and another doe-eyed female love interest. We can see why Betty Boop and her big eyes were popular in the same time period! This film actually lends to beautiful scenery and the zombie version of Disney’s lemmings. A solid flick all in all.
Check out White Zombie so you aren’t spoiled like what’s in your head, and then see Chaos and Carnage for their tanks and their guns.
White Zombie is streaming for free on Shudder.
