We wrap the 2024 season with a heist, some holiday horror, and a UFO documentary; it’s a weird mix befitting an even weirder year.

Heist movies tend to be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we have not covered many bank robbery movies on our humble little podcast, so it was a great time to check out a classic. It also happens to be a Christmas thriller, so it was a treat to end the year with on our final show of 2024. Don’t worry if you’re checking this out after the holidays though; this is a worthy watch any time of the year.
There are a lot of shocking things about 1961’s Cash on Demand. And the fact it was made by the renowned Hammer Film Productions may be the least. The story of a cold bank manager who has to deal with a charming bank robber does not sound all that original. Cash on Demand makes it work with strong performances, wit, and great characters.
Evil Elves and Extraterrestrials

Christmas may be the second spookiest time of year, but it is still surprising just how many holiday horror movies are out there. Just when you think you have heard about all of them, Tubi shows you there are way more than you could ever imagine. It is overwhelming. Until you see a movie called The Elf in which the titular character goes on a killing spree.
If only it were as simple as it sounded. What should be a silly holiday horror watch turns into a serious character study about….paranoia? Maybe?
It is easy to say The Elf makes no sense, but that would be an insult to every nonsensical movie ever. The acting is awful; there seems to be no script, and things move painfully slowly. On the plus side, there is a cool kill involving gift wrap.
We also checked out The Program, an intriguing but flawed UFO documentary now available to stream. It explores the unprecedented bipartisan congressional effort to uncover what intelligence agencies really know about UFOs, now referred to as UAP.
Every week AIPT Movie Editor Nathaniel Muir and his cinema partner in crime Blake Heath discuss indie and genre movies you have have never heard of, the ones you cannot hear enough about, and the ones you never want to hear about again.
Time moves more quickly now than it ever has. It was not that long ago that we were talking about a new show executive produced by the Duffer brothers. About a month later, it is one and done. As someone once reminded us, we are just two guys who watch movies. Production budgets and domestic grosses are only a passing interest to us. Still, there are some things that catch our attention. Were we right to say that Michael would get to $1 billion? And what does the future hold for Obsession?
There was a major change to our humble little podcast this year. We decided it would be in our best interests to be a little more focused. To that end, we went to just covering one movie each show. Despite this, we still managed to cover twenty-three movies over seventeen episodes. And twenty of them were released in 2026.
So, what do we have to talk about? And will we get as worked up as we did last week? The horrors of high school, zombies, musicals, buff nuns, and grindhouse adjacent fun. It may not all have been good, but everything left some sort of impression on us.
