Sawtober goes out with a bang as we discuss the last two films in the franchise, “Spiral” and a stellar return to form with “Saw X”.

SHOW NOTES FROM HOST ROBERT:

For the second anniversary of Creepy and Geeky, I’m joined by my daughter Katrina to help conclude the SAW series of episodes with Spiral and Saw X.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw (or simply Spiral) is a 2021 spinoff film and the ninth installment of the Saw film series. It was directed by Darren Lynn Bousman — who helmed Saw II through Saw IV — and written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger. Series creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell served as executive producers, along with star Chris Rock (who also polished the script) and series veteran Kevin Greutert.

The film follows police efforts to stop a Jigsaw copycat killer.

Saw X was directed and edited by Kevin Greutert and written by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg.

The tenth installment in the series, it served as both a direct sequel to Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005). Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith returned to the franchise to reprise their roles from the previous films.

John Kramer (Bell) travels to Mexico in hopes that an experimental procedure may cure him, only to later discover that the operation is a scam. As retribution, he kidnaps those responsible and subjects them to his trademark death traps.

Saw X earned widespread critical acclaim and became the best-reviewed film in the franchise.
