food in horror

If this episode doesn’t make your tummy rumble, you’ve got far more willpower than we do! Join us for a tasty chat about food in horror films.

SHOW NOTES FROM YOUR HOST DONNA:

I’m discussing my top five most disgusting and delicious foods in horror films. Let me fix you a plate — if you have a strong stomach, that is.

NOTES FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF:

Have we all given up on our resolutions yet?

Whether or not you’re still in the self-improvement game, you’re likely one of millions of Americans who resolved to eat healthier in the new year. It’s an especially tough one, given how hard the winter months are in general, with those frigid temperatures and seasonal depression. We all want to curl up with a good movie or book and delicious comfort food.

If you’re trying to diet, an episode devoted to food may sound like it’s adding cruel fuel to the fire. And, yes, we are talking about food.

But we’re also talking about horror films. That means we’ll dive into the disgusting as much as the delicious — from iconic stomach-turning food scenes in classic horror like The Lost Boys and modern horror like Midsommar to the tasty temptations in films like Parasite and The Menu. So, there’s a good chance this episode may inspire you to stay out of the kitchen as much as it makes you think about how hungry you are.

Whether this makes your healthy eating resolution easier or harder to keep, we hope you at least enjoy this discussion of some of the great food scenes in horror films!
