Morbidly Beautiful

Your Home for Horror

Posts

We here at Morbidly Beautiful headquarters are huge fans of Magnetic Magic Rentals, a small independent VHS distribution company based out of Kansas City, MO. We love VHS and are avid supporters of our local neighborhood rental store, which we are fortunate enough to still have around. As much as we appreciate modern technology — the exquisite beauty of high definition, 4k blu rays and the wonderful convenience of streaming media — there’s something so utterly charming and eternally endearing about those clunky, grainy, scratchy, super low fi VHS treasures that make us feel all warm and nostalgic.

Magnetic has some truly inspired VHS releases, with stunning packaging and lots of great extras. We can’t get enough of their Friday Night Packs, which include a random VHS in the genre of your choice (is there any other genre besides horror?), as well as an assortment of candy, popcorn, sodas and stickers…everything you need for a perfect movie night at home. It’s like bringing the movie store to you, which is especially great for those VHS fans not lucky enough to still have a physical store nearby.

Even if you do have a rental store, these packs are addictive. At only $6.66 each, you can’t beat the price. And it’s so much fun to see what movie you’ll be surprised with. We’ve ordered these packs on numerous occasions, and we’ve never once been disappointed. They also have a couple of special Rental Club Packs that include VHS-themed shirts as well as a mystery rental and several other goodies. The shirts are designed by Magnetic owner and graphic designer/illustrator Elijah LaFollette, and they’re a must have for any serious VHS connoisseur.
