As America returns to the polls, we return to the scathing political skewering that is “The Purge: Election Year”.

The Purge Election Year

Since it’s election time in the U.S., Will chose “The Purge: Election Year” (2016) this week! Is it fair or foul? Listen & find out!

The Purge: Election Year is a 2016 American dystopian political action horror film written and directed by James DeMonaco and starring Frank Grillo, Elizabeth Mitchell, and Mykelti Williamson. It is the sequel to 2014’s The Purge: Anarchy and is the third installment in the Purge franchise. Jason Blum and Michael Bay are among the film’s producers.

The film received mixed reviews from critics but earned more than $118 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of the series before being passed by the fourth film/prequel, The First Purge, in July 2018.

A direct sequel, The Forever Purge, was finally released in July 2021 due to delays from the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2017, the film’s tagline ‘Keep America Great’ received attention from the internet and media when it was the same slogan used by Donald Trump for his 2020 re-election campaign.

It’s the five-year anniversary of the Spookshow. Come celebrate with the boys as they take advantage of the once-a-year time to re-rate the movies they have watched throughout the past calendar year. The films discussed range from undisputed classics to modern gems, from films the Spookshow crew loved to films they loathed.
