We discussed a couple of highly buzzed-about indie horror films from SXSW 2023: “Only the Good Survive” and “Satan Wants You”.

A few weeks back, we talked about 65. While we agreed it was an interesting idea, we were split about its prospects. As it turns out, it did not do so well at the box office. We talk about possible reasons why and the star power of Adam Driver.

We have made no secret that if we hear a movie has been banned, it moves to the top of our must-see list. Which country refuses to show Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, and why?

Only the Good Survive was one of the most unique films to screen at this year’s SXSW.

Its DIY aesthetics and punk attitude set the tone immediately. There are obvious influences to past cinema classics, but it is very much its own thing. This movie frustrated and angered us. So why did we spend so much time talking about how great it is?

The Satanic Panic was a big part of our childhoods, so a documentary about it would only draw our attention more if it were banned in a country.

Satan Wants You does not just focus on one story; it focuses on what started it all. It had all the makings of one of the most interesting things we watched this year. Instead, it is one of the most disappointing.
