Morbidly Beautiful

Your Home for Horror

Blacktober continues with the sci-fi mystery thriller “They Cloned Tyrone” on Netflix, a film that arguably qualifies as horror fare.

On this episode, I am continuing my Blacktober series by discussing the Juel Taylor-directed They Cloned Tyrone (2023).

Although it is listed as a sci-fi, comedy, and mystery film, there are lots of horrific things afoot in The Glen. You’ll find government conspiracies, clones, and an unusual trio of heroes in this one. Come with me in the hidden elevator to check out all the behind-the-scenes inner inner-workings.

FYI, I was dealing with a head cold when I recorded this, so excuse my occasional sniffling.

They Cloned Tyrone

They Cloned Tyrone is a 2023 American science fiction comedy mystery film directed by Juel Taylor, in his feature film directorial debut, from a screenplay he wrote with Tony Rettenmaier. It stars John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx (who also serves as a producer) as an unlikely trio uncovering a government cloning conspiracy. David Alan Grier and Kiefer Sutherland also appear in supporting roles.

The film received positive reviews from critics, with particular praise aimed at the humor and lead cast performances. On Rotten Tomatoes, 94% of 123 critics’ reviews are positive, with an average rating of 7.5/10. The website’s consensus reads: “They Cloned Tyrone is provocative, clever sci-fi with an exceptional cast.”

It is currently streaming exclusively on Netflix.
