We celebrate our three-year anniversary with our first crossover episode, talking horror comedies with Gracie of “Good Mourning, Nancy!”

Episode 36: Horror Comedies with Gracie from Good Mourning Nancy!

In this episode, we are discussing horror comedies and why they are an important subgenre of horror. Who doesn’t love a good horror comedy?

The main topics of discussion will be how horror-comedies differ from horror parodies like the Scary Movie series, their subversion of many beloved horror tropes, and how they are like the perfect gateway drug for people who are interested in the horror genre but are just not ready to dive right in.

The films up for discussion are What We Do in The Shadows (2014), Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil (2010), and The Final Girls (2015).

From the camaraderie of flatmates who happen to be vampires, hillbillies with a heart of gold, and a slasher film filled to the brim with soul, these films are top tier when it comes to fantastic comedies and horror — they have everything you could possibly want in both.

We touch on masculinity, racism, and maybe even shed a tear as the song Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes seems to be an episode favorite (but not for Kelly as she is made of stone).

We are also VERY excited to have Gracie from the incredible feminist horror podcast Good Mourning, Nancy joining us for our first-ever crossover episode and as our very first guest!

Enjoy, and welcome to our dark side…
