Morbidly Beautiful

Your Home for Horror

On this episode of “Not Your Final Girl”, we go on an emotional — but still fun-filled — journey with a couple of powerful Latin American horror films.

We’re covering two Latin American horror movies in this episode; get on this rollercoaster ride of emotions with us. First off, La Llorona (the good one), a ghost story dealing with colonization and genocide. Then we’ve got Tigers Are Not Afraid bringing up the rear with cartel violence and homeless orphans. It’s a lot! Fortunately, your hosts and their guest, screenwriter and actress Deanna Gomez, can offer you some jokes in this trying time.

Other topics covered: our embarrassing high school times, interesting facts about ourselves, Twitter fights, yelling about horror criticism, and Candace’s presidential campaign’s hot-button issue — legally requiring Andy Serkis in a motion capture suit to play every child’s role in any movie.

There’s more, too. We were very chatty in this one. Reminder to join our Facebook group, Not Your Final Girl Gang, to be chatty with us. Also, if you’re so inclined, take this survey and tell us what you hate about us. Or like. It’s anonymous, so have at it. Please and thank you.

Movies discussed:

  • La Llorona (2019)
  • Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017)
