What happens when fake ghostbusters encounter actual spirits eager to put the ‘real’ in ‘reality tv’? Tune in to find out as we discuss “DeadTectives”.

A team of hapless reality TV ghost hunters experiences true paranormal activity for the first time while filming a make-or-break episode in the most haunted mansion in Mexico.

Fake podcasters. Real ghosts. Complete dicks.

This week on They Mostly Podcast at Night, it’s time to go shopping for all the latest in ghost detection equipment because Chaos and Carnage are taking you to the most haunted house in all of Mexico with the most incompetent ghost hunters out there, the DeadTectives!

If you are a new listener to the PaNcast, be aware there are spoilers and expletives ahead! We break down the movie, go through a summary, offer analysis, trivia, arbitrary awards, reviews, ratings, fanfiction and more!

“TAPS decided to turn themselves into a movie… and things went awry.” (Five second summary)

In this episode of the PaNcast, we are introduced to Sam and his crew of ghost hunters who fake it all for a TV show. Kate, Sam’s fiance and the show’s producer, wants to go back to the days when they actually debunked hauntings and helped people. But the show’s direction changed to dramas and charlitanism when that proved too boring for viewers.

Now their show is on the chopping block once more, as their latest episode about a haunted bakery failed to impress the network. Their boss gives the team an ultimatum: go to Mexico for a season finale with a new producer and special effects man, or get cancelled. Sam does his best to negotiate, but they end up heading for the south of Mexico anyway.

When they arrive, the caretakers warn them away, but for Sam it all adds to the show. They charge in and start setting up. Sam immediately taunts the ‘ghosts’ for the camera, but what he doesn’t know is, he’s not the only one listening.

The ghosts no one believes in exist, and for Sam’s impudence begin a game of cat and mouse with the team, moving through them one by one. Go watch the movie and come back for conversation. Let us know what you think!

Check out the trailer for DeadTectives below. And if you haven’t seen it, be sure to catch up on the film before listening to this spoiler-y podcast. It’s currently streaming on Shudder.

Join us next week for a double episode with Hell House, LLC II: The Abbadon Hotel and Hell house, LLC III: Lake of Fire, both on Shudder.
