Brightwood

Watch the unnerving trailer for the highly anticipated, mind-bending sci-fi horror thriller “Brightwood” coming August 22nd.

“Like the TWILIGHT ZONE meets TIMECRIMES, with a hint of BLAIR WITCH…Elcar never loses sight of building intrigue.” – Bloody Disgusting

Cinephobia Releasing will be debuting Dane Elcar’s acclaimed sci-fi thriller Brightwood on VOD and DVD on August 22nd.

Currently 100% Fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, the film promises to be a chilling mind-bender in the vein of a couple of films I really love, Timecrimes and Coherence. The film made a big splash on the festival circuit, wowing audiences at Panic Fest, Other Worlds, Popcorn Frights, Another Hole in the Head, Salem Horror Fest, HorrorHound Film Festival, and more.

It has received considerable praise from major horror outlets like Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central, which applaud it as “effective sci-fi horror that isn’t afraid to be dark.”

The film follows a struggling married couple, Jen and Dan, on the verge of a divorce. But when the pair go on a jog around a local pond in an attempt to hash things out, they find themselves running in circles as the exit trail vanishes, and they repeatedly return to the same spot.

Being stuck together in an endless loop would be bad enough, but when a silent hooded killer appears and starts tracking them down, the couple must figure out how to survive — together or apart.

Written and directed by Dane Elcar, Brightwood stars Dana Berger and Max Woertendyke, and is based on Elcar’s award-winning 2018 short film The Pond (which you check out for free right here if you’d like an effective teaser for what you’re in store for).

Elcar’s feature directorial debut certainly looks and sounds promising, and the trailer has us eager to hit the trail with the film My Blood Reviews describes as a “low-budget triumph with a dark and disturbing climax.”

Watch the thrilling first-look trailer below, and mark your calendars for the film’s highly anticipated release next month.
