Universal Studios Hollywood unveiled their amazing new The Walking Dead permanent attraction with a lot of fanfare and snarling zombies. An entertaining day for press and lucky guests at the park, The Walking Dead’s Executive Producer, Director and Walker Creator Greg Nicotero (KNB Efx) helped open the iconic “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” doors to a walk-through attraction like no other. Being a huge The Walking Dead fan — this zombie girl was super excited by all the walker fun!

After the intro from Universal execs and Greg Nicotero, we were joined by TWD cast members Scott Wilson (Hershel), Kyla Kenedy (Mika), Brighton Sharbino (Lizzie), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Michael Traynor (Nicholas) and TWD super fan Yvette Nicole Brown; most of whom seemed more than a bit nervous about going through the attraction. When Negan and his gang showed up with a handcuffed line of zombies to “cut” through to get in and a herd of hungry walkers are released from the sidelines, being inside the attraction seemed safer than outside.

For those of you living under a rock, The Walking Dead Attraction is based on AMC’s top-rated television series, The Walking Dead, and officially opened to the public on Monday, July 4th. The Walking Dead depicts the story of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with hordes of zombies, (better known on the show as walkers.) It was really great to get a sneak peek without having to wait in a long line and I got a few photos to show just to share a bit of the attraction.

For fans of the show, there will be a lot of familiar scenes from the show throughout, original props from the show and also easter eggs or hidden zombies, if you will, for them to find. For first time The Walking Dead folks, this attraction will be super scary and will stand on its own as a fun jump-scare type maze.

Without giving too much away, the attraction starts at the hospital from the beginning of the series, and winds guests through a maze of The Walking Dead classic moments. With realistic animatronic walkers mixed with live talent, you never know what might jump out at you. I’m very hard to scare, and they managed to even get a few jumps from me (unlike the news person in front of me with the blood curdling screams, LOL).

I loved the attraction as much as I thought I would and look forward to going through it again! Get your ticket for the scariest maze that you can go through year-round!!
