The Happenstance Horror Fest is currently looking for more great short indie horror films, of all types and budgets, as well as sponsors at any level.

Filmmaker George James Fraser has created something special up there in Massachusetts — an event that highlights all things indie horror while celebrating in a enthusiastic, rambunctious punk rock style. Started in 2016 by Fraser, the Happenstance Horror Fest (HHF) was created as a way to help promote the unsung heroes of indie horror and bring more original, independent horror to a wider audience.

Held at the happenin’ Chunky’s Cinema & Pub in Haverhill, MA, the HHF has started to become a new destination for genre fans in New England.

In addition to the popular film festival itself, the HHF hosts a variety of local horror themed vendors and artists. Fraser’s own film Salt and Iron (starring William DeCoff and Marissa Joy) will screen at this year’s fest, along with many other must see indie horror films. The best of the fest will be honored with special awards in a variety of categories, including Best Death, Best FX, Best Score, and more. All awards will be voted on by audience members.

This year will also be the first year in which a special award will be presented on behalf of our founder Stephanie Malone and Morbidly Beautiful to recognize an outstanding female talent featured at HHF.

The rowdy, fun, and unique Happenstance Horror Fest will have special guests, judges, and filmmakers in attendance and encourages audience interactions. Don’t miss your opportunity to attend, support, and contribute to this growing Fest and the indie film community. This is a festival run for horror fans by a true horror fan — and a filmmaker who understands the importance of recognizing and sharing the innovative, intelligent, truly entertaining and often genre redefining indie films.
