Morbidly Beautiful

Your Home for Horror

On this episode of the “Adventures in Movies!” podcast, we celebrate Black History Month with a look at our favorite black horror films.

February is Black History Month and Blake and Nathaniel talk Black horror movies. The two talk about their favorite heroes and villains, the Black horror movies that scared them the most, and underrepresentation.

The show starts with talk of the new Jordan Peele movie. The two talk about whether they are excited and how it important it is for Peele’s legacy. They guys also talk an unmade Stanley Kubrick production that may finally see the light of day.

This week, Blake and Nathaniel also review A Black Rift Begins to Yawn.

Currently playing at the Slamdance Film Festival, the movie is a beautiful looking Lovecraftian horror movie. But is it worth watching? Tune in to find out.

Finally, our main segment is about Black horror movies. The duo discuss the lack of African culture in horror movies, the variety in Black horror, and why there are not more Black Final Girls.

ADVENTURES IN MOVIES! is a weekly journey into the deepest and darkest recesses of film. From the latest genre film news and reviews to interviews with independent films’ brightest creators and stars, hosts Danny, Blake, and Nathaniel act as a voice to the voiceless. Born out of a shared passion for movies and a mutual obsession with talking about movies, the trio decided to take their post-movie watching, theater parking lot discussions to the masses.

Be sure to tune in every Saturday for new episodes of ADVENTURES IN MOVIES! on the Morbidly Beautiful Network.
