Hot Chili

It’s time once again to honor the Cannon Films catalog from the VHS heyday. This week, things get hot and spicy with 1985’s “Hot Chili”.

We break our own rules sometimes, but only with the best of intentions. Even though it’s still “Camp Spookshow”, the latest edition of “Cannon Fodder” is not a summer camp movie, because Cannon Films never made one! So we found one that’s close enough: HOT CHILI from 1985!

In Hot Chili, four adolescent youths travel to seek out employment opportunities at a resort in Mexico. The supervisor of the facility advises them to stay away from relations with the guests. However, the youngsters soon find themselves enmeshed in relationships with colorful figures that visit the facility, including swingers from Texas, a dominatrix from Germany, and a music instructor with a strange kink.

Shot in Mexico, this 80’s comedy would be the tenth film (including two shorts) directed by William Sachs, who was best known for 1980’s Galaxina. Later, he would work as a “film doctor” on 1993’s cult horror hit Leprechaun.

Would this week’s film have been better suited for our Crapsterpiece Theater? Come find out!
