Fantasy Horror Month continues with “Merlin and the Book of Beasts”; plus a look at the true-crime documentary “Finding Kendrick Johnson”.
ABOUT THIS EPISODE (133):
We have talked in the past about franchises that have fallen from glory. Demonic came out this week, and it did not go over well with critics and audiences. Director Neill Blomkamp seemed to be on top of the world after District 9. Over a decade has passed, and we are still waiting for him to live up to the promise he once flashed.
Finding Kendrick Johnson is a true-crime documentary with a powerful message.
It is one that rings true throughout the country. We grapple with the film’s mystery, narrator, and graphic content. We were incredibly torn when discussing this documentary and were really not sure how to tackle it.
Fantasy Horror Month also continues with a look at 2009’s Merlin and the Book of Beasts.
The title may sound unfamiliar to fans of Arthurian legend for good reason. There are not many stories involving Merlin, King Arthur’s daughter, and incest. Even less have a Merlin who can only be understood about 5% of the time.
Finding Kendrick Johnson is available to rent on VOD. Watch the trailer here. Merlin and the Book of Beasts is available to stream for free on Hoopla, IMDB TV Amazon Channel, Tubi TV, or YouTube Free.
