SHOW NOTES FROM THE GODDAMN GUYS:

On the heels of the well-reviewed Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor release (Shudder exclusive), the Goddamn Guys were lucky to chat with creator, writer, and director Stephen Cognetti! We talk about making a successful Found Footage franchise, coming up with the series concept, and the decision to become a horror movie maker.

Hell House LLC is a 2015 American found-footage horror film written and directed by Stephen Cognetti and produced by Fbi Films. Shot as a documentary, the film follows a group of Halloween haunted house creators as they prepare for the 2009 opening of their popular haunted attraction. Tragedy strikes on opening night when an unknown “malfunction” causes the death of 15 tour-goers and staff.

The film reveals the lead-up to the tragedy and what really went wrong that night, the details of which have remained a mystery to the public. A sequel, Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel, was released in 2018, and a second sequel, Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire, was released in 2019.

The most recent film in the franchise, a spinoff also written and directed by Cognetti, is Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor. It was released in October 2023 exclusively on Shudder.

Stephen Cognetti is a filmmaker, director, writer, and producer who launched a successful horror franchise that continues to thrill fans and delight critics. His newest film is 825 Forest Road, which is currently in post-production.
