We discuss experimental WTF horror (“Skinamarink” and “Razzennest”) with a special guest, staying on brand and delivering a WTF episode.

THIS EPISODE: “SKINAMARINK” AND “RAZZENNEST”

In this house, we listen to Cheer and Loathing!

Cheer and Loathing are back, and boy, did we pick a doozy of an episode to follow our Season 4 premiere. Things are about to get weird…really, REALLY weird. Picking two experimental horror films to discuss — the surprise Shudder hit SKINAMARINK and the insane film fest darling RAZZENNEST — is a recipe for disaster. Loathing (aka Casey) was already angry at Cheer (Steph) for insisting that he sit through every minute of SKINAMARINK, no matter how much he felt he’d seen it all by the first ten minutes.

To soften the blow, we brought on a special guest, Morbidly Beautiful contributor and avid film connoisseur Jamie Marino, to help referee this smackdown between a WTF film lover and a “Are you f*ck*ng kidding me?!” fighter. Is Jamie Team Cheer or Loathing? Tune in to find out!

ABOUT OUR GUEST
Jamie has been a horror movie fan since grade school. His horror movie library currently stands at over 4,000 titles. He graduated with honors from King’s College with a degree in Literature/Creative Writing, as well as double majoring in Philosophy for two years. He has contributed to Morbidly Beautiful since its inception and is currently creating a reaction and review show for the Morbidly Beautiful Youtube Channel. Jamie is also involved in helping bring to life a new TTRPG (tabletop role-playing game), D10 Universal, which is currently crowdfunding. From creator Michael Smith, the goal of this project is to create a website that will be low-cost for its players and give them the freedom to interact with the lore on an unprecedented scale.
Stream SKINAMARINK now on Shudder. RAZZENNEST is still touring the festival circuit but look for it coming soon to theaters and/or VOD.

ABOUT THIS PODCAST

Cheer and Loathing

She’s a lover, he’s a fighter. Together, they’re CHEER AND LOATHING.

Tune in to hear your hosts, Stephanie (Cheer) and Casey (Loathing), clash over the films they love — and the ones they love to hate. With a new theme each month and related topics each week, they’ll make a case for the good and the bad; it may even get a bit ugly!

Stephanie (Cheer) is the Editor-in-Chief for Morbidly Beautiful, and Casey (Loathing) is the Program Director and host of the Ominous Origins Podcast.

New episodes of the CHEER AND LOATHING podcast will be headed your way every other Sunday. Be sure to follow us on social media for teasers, show announcements, and more.

ABOUT CHEER AND LOATHING
Cheer and Loathing is hosted by Stephanie Malone and Casey Chaplin. You can find Stephanie on Instagram at @srgreenhaw or on Twitter at @smalonedesign. Casey, unsurprisingly, hates social media. But you can still follow him on Instagram @ominousoriginspod and Twitter at @horrorshotsprod. Check out our show page on Anchor to catch up on any episodes you may have missed. Our illustrated, Halloween-inspired Cheer and Loathing avatars were hand-drawn by the incredibly talented Kitty Morgan (@kittymorgann on Instagram). And our awesome intro song, “Shankill Butchers”, is courtesy of the wickedly talented Ariel Dyer. Find more of her music on Bandcamp.
