We continue our tour of the Eerie USA with a trip to Delaware’s beautiful but potentially haunted Lums Pond Park (11 min) (10.25.19).

ABOUT THIS EPISODE:

As we continue our tour on the Eerie USA, we come across some smaller states, naturally. But that doesn’t mean they are any less deserving of a spot on our tour. Hell, some of them have the best legends and stories.

One such legend comes from the state of Delaware where we explore the ghost of Lums Pond State Park. The park is home to the largest freshwater pond in the state. It’s also a gorgeous place for recreational activities such as camping, hiking…and, of course, murder. What good ghost story doesn’t start with the demise of a poor innocent soul?

In this instance, that poor innocent was a young girl who ran away from home way back in the 1800s. Sadly, the decision to leave the safety of her home and family would be a decision she would ultimately not live to regret.

Lums Pond

According to legend, the girl attempted to find some kind of shelter in the park. Alas, what she found instead was something far more sinister, as she was eventually found raped and murdered. It was a truly gruesome end to a young life. And despite the authorities finding her body in a timely fashion, the killer was never caught. Now, if that isn’t the origins to a good ghost story, I don’t know what is.

I know what you’re thinking. I gave away a lot there. But there’s much more to the story…trust me. You’ll just have to listen to find out what other secrets Delaware’s haunted park holds.
