Horror lovers, mark your calendars! Nightmares Film Festival is back, and it’s shaping up to be the can’t-miss event of the spooky season.

Picture this: You’re in Columbus, OH, surrounded by fellow fright fanatics, watching world premieres, meeting genre legends, and experiencing classic horror in mind-blowing new ways. Sound too good to be true? Welcome to Nightmares 2024!

“It’s like Christmas morning and summer camp rolled into one for the horror family,” (paraphrased) says Jason Tostevin, the mastermind behind this ghoulish gathering. And he’s not kidding – check out what’s in store:

Resurrecting the Classics

Nightmares is bringing horror history to life with its new “Resurrections” program:

– Watch the world’s first horror film, 1911’s L’Inferno (an Italian adaptation of Dante’s Inferno), with a live, spine-tingling score.

– See Larry Cohen’s mondo masterpiece It’s Alive like never before in a stunning 4K remaster for its 50th anniversary.

– Celebrate Proxy turning 10 with director Zack Parker and his latest 16mm short.

Horror Heavyweights in the House

Rub elbows with the creators shaping modern horror:

– Jenn Wexler (The Ranger)

– Joe Swanberg (V/H/S, writer of The Rental) – bringing a sneak peek of his new film Kenneled!

– Jennifer Reeder (Knives and Skin)

– Bram Stoker Award-winner Jeff Strand

– Plus, the legends at Dark Sky Films will be there to talk shop.

Premieres (World, North American, and Midwest) to Blow Your Mind

Be among the first to see:

Waves of Madness – A mind-bending side-scrolling horror from Jason Trost (The FP)

For Sale by Exorcist – A haunted house comedy that’ll have you in stitches

The Soul Eater – The latest nightmare fuel from the Inside directors

Sayara — A revenge thriller from the Can Evrenol, the brilliant mind behind Baskin

– And more twisted tales from fresh voices in horror!

But Wait, There’s More!

– Live podcast recordings

– Horror trivia battles

– Industry insider panels

– And the full #betterhorror lineup is coming in October!

“This is only a taste of what we have in store for the NFFam at Nightmares ‘24,” said NFF co-founder and Gateway Film Center CEO Chris Hamel. “We can’t wait to host our annual celebration at Gateway Film Center, meet new friends and catch up with old ones, and discover a new program of better horror.”

VIP badge holders get access to a newly pimped-out festival lounge. We’re talking about a private bar and restrooms, a new kitchen menu, a private entrance to festival screening rooms, and the chance to mingle with creators. It’s horror heaven! Don’t miss your chance to be part of the NFFam (the Nightmares Film Festival family for the uninitiated). Snag your VIP badges before they vanish like a ghost at night.

Get ready, Columbus. Nightmares is coming – and it’s bringing the best of horror with it.
