Shudder Queer Horror Documentary

Calling all LGBTQ horror fans, let your voice be heard; find out how you can be a part of Shudder’s upcoming queer horror documentary!

Are you a horror fan and a member of the LGBTQ community? How would you like to be a part of Shudder’s upcoming documentary about queer horror?

Director Sam Wineman (Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror, The Quiet Room) and producer Phil Nobile Jr. (Fangoria editor-in-chief) tweeted on Saturday that they want to include “voices from beyond the limits of our budget and schedule” in their documentary about the history and cultural impact of LGBTQ representation in horror. They’ve interviewed dozens of well-known filmmakers, critics, and genre icons, but now they want to hear from the rest of the queer horror community: fans just like you and me.

Participants will receive a list of questions about queerness in horror: its past, present, and future.

You’ll get the chance to talk about some of your favorite films and filmmakers, themes and tropes that have shaped queer identity in horror films, and how it feels to see a reflection of yourself in our beloved genre.

You will also receive instructions on how to record your answers and submit your video. (That’s right, video. Your face could be on Shudder!)

Of course, not every submission will make it into the final cut.

But this is a huge opportunity for queer horror fans to be a part of something amazing and share our love of this deeply nuanced corner of the horror world.

There will no doubt be a plethora of unique, diverse perspectives to choose from, and giving those perspectives a platform will certainly add even more depth and heart to the project.

The currently untitled documentary wrapped filming earlier this month and will premiere later this year exclusively on Shudder.

To be a part of this exciting opportunity, send an email to [email protected]. The deadline to submit your video is February 5!
