Morbidly Beautiful

Your Home for Horror

This month, it was a WWE smackdown to see which guilty pleasure horror film we’d discuss, and “See No Evil” was the undisputed champion.

We ran a poll on social media platforms to see which film we would look at in our WWE edition. Would it be 2006’s See No Evil or 2012’s No One Lives? Well, by an absolute knockout, you went with the Kane vehicle See No Evil.

Alongside NHE host Scott Murphy, we have a regular face (well, voice) around these parts. Yes, it is Mychoverse creator MJ Dixon!

Over the course of the episode, the pair talk a little bit about the history of WWE films, just how mid-00s this flick is, and how they both rate Kane (Glenn Jacobs) as the central killer Jacob Goodnight.

Plus, they get in how this movie pulls from the slasher and torture porn sub-genres, how good the kills are, and how the character of Michael (Luke Pegler) definitely, 100%, for sure should have died.

Listen to MJ’s previous appearance on New Horror Express here.

Here is that WWE clip I promised, too.

See No Evil isn’t readily available for streaming in the US or UK, so you’ll have to hunt to find this one online or pick up the DVD

Guilty Pleasures is a monthly spin-off show of the popular New Horror Express (NHE) podcast. Each month, NHE host Scott Murphy, alongside some former guests on the interview podcast, takes a deep dive into a 21st Century “Guilty Pleasure” horror movie as chosen by you the listener in an online poll (based on a particular theme).

Host Scott Murphy is a freelance journalist, reviewer, and podcaster. He got into horror in his early teens and has not looked back since. As well as reviewing on New Horror Express, he currently writes reviews for The Wee Review and has previously written for Slimehouse TV, Subtitled Online, and The 405.  His favorite horror movie is The Shining, and his favorite horror novel is Interview with The Vampire.

Be sure to tune in every month for new episodes of THE GUILTY PLEASURES PODCAST on the Morbidly Beautiful Network.
