The Calling Hours Horror Podcast 2.15: Women in Horror Month 2018 with Maude Michaud and Alex Essoe (Air Date: 3.6.18)

ABOUT THIS EPISODE:

As our special guests this evening, we will have filmmaker/writer/and photographer Maude Michaud and actress/writer Alex Essoe.  We will discuss their work in the genre, as well as the hot topic issue of Harvey Weinstein and the problems many women still face in the industry.

This podcast was originally scheduled to air in February, in celebration of Women in Horror Month. However, due to technical difficulties, it was unfortunately delayed. However, it’s a great episode and a still very timely discussion — especially on the heels of the Academy Awards, where issue of inclusion, equality, and the #metoo movement dominated the discussion.

Digital Dismemberment

In our Digital Dismemberment Spotlight, we will be covering SGL Entertainment’s Blu Ray Release of Reichsfuhrer-SS, the 2015 horror film starring David B. Stewart III and John Martineau. The “Nazisploitation” film was shot in Pennsylvania, produced by Dapper Cat Pictures, Invasion Studios with Potent Media and distributed by SGL Entertainment. It tells the story of Heinrich Himmler, the Reichsführer-SS who commits suicide in 1945 and awakens after his death in a dark dank cell. He wakes up to find himself in Hell, as a series of flashbacks show the atrocities of his past crimes that led him to his eternal damnation.

We will also be covering the Scream Factory Blu-Ray release of arguably one of the greatest werewolf films of all time, The Howling. This 1981 horror film was directed by Joe Dante and stars Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee, Dennis Dugan, and Robert Picardo. Based on the novel of the same name by Gary Brandner, the film follows a television newswoman sent to a remote mountain resort after a fatal incident with a serial killer, unaware that the inhabiting residents are werewolves.

Metal Massacre

We will be hearing from 3 bands in out Metal massacre spotlight this evening, including Nile, Nasty Surgeons and The Legion of Hetheria!
